Danone Nations Cup - McDonald's Soccer camp returning to Kingston. Queen's Golden Gaels Soccer will be hosting the Eastern Ontario Area of the Danone Nations Cup - McDonald's Soccer camps on Saturday August 11, 2007. For details on local event.

The Danone Nations Cup is the major International Cup for Kids aged 10 to 12 (born in 1996, 1997, 1998). It gives over 2 million children the opportunity to take part in an international tournament and to develop their passion for soccer and skills in the the game. In Canada, the McDonald's Soccer Camps are the first level of participation in the Danone Cup.

There is no cost to participate, and every participant receives a t-shirt and products from Danone and McDonald's. The camps will feature games, learning, music, fun, and other surprises. To register for the camp go to Canadian Donone Nations Cup site at www.coupedanonecup.com.


McConville Named To Summer Universiade Squad

Queen's Golden Gaels All Canadian striker Eilish McConville has been named to the women's soccer team for the 2007 Summer Universiade. McConville is part of the 19 member squad which will represent Canada at the Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand from August 8-18. Canada's faces South Africa in their first game; Canada's other matches will be against Great Britian and 2005 silver medalist China.

Queen's - Greg Hulse Soccer Memorial
May 28, 2007

The second annual Queen's Greg Hulse Soccer Memorial will be held June 2, 2007 at Richardson Stadium. Greg Hulse was a member of the Queen's Men's Soccer team who passed away in June of 2005. Hulse was also a member of the junior and senior soccer teams at Holy Cross SS. His passion for the game of soccer and for the schools he attended was immense and the All-Star Games represent the celebration of the game he loved to play.

On the day of the event, the all stars will have a morning practice with members of the Queen's men's and women's varsity soccer teams and coaches. The games kick off at 1:00pm with the senior girls all star game, followed by the senior boys at 3:00pm.

The event raises funds for the Jamaica Mission, a charity that Greg and his family actively support. This mission is a series of projects run by the St Patrick's Foundation operating under the Archdiocese of St. Patrick's Jamaica. The Foundation (Kingston, Jamaica) operates health clinics, community development programs; remedial school programs, and assists with low income families and developing youth programs. Ultimately, the St. Patrick's Foundation provides community support, relief and a proactive alternative to the cycle of poverty and violence in the region.

An admission fee will be set to raise funds for the Jamaica Mission. Admission fee will be $5 for adults, $3 for high school students with an ID card, and $2 for children between ages of 5-12. Children under 5 will be admitted free of charge. There will also be fundraising during the event with a 50/50 draw and other raffles for replica jerseys.

Please come out and support the local soccer talent and pay tribute to a person who touched the lives of everyone he met. His compassionate character, his tenacious spirit, his will to compete, and his sportsmanship will be remembered forever.


International Friendly Announced

Queen's to host international soccer friendly. Soccer Canada's has announced that Canada's men's U-20 squad will host the United States in an International Friendly on Wednesday June 6th at Richardson Stadium. Game time is 7:00pm. The match is the second last tune up for Canada before the FIFA U-20 World Cup from June 30th to July 22nd. The other tune up games are in Ottawa on June 3 against the USA, and in Edmonton on June 18 against the Czech Republic.

Prices for tickets are $29.00 centre reserved, $19.00 side reserved and $12.00 general admission bleachers. They will go on sale starting Monday May 7th and can be purchased by phoning Queen's Athletics at (613) 533-6000 x 74715 between 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, or online at www.whatsonkingston.com. Tickets will be available to purchase in person from local outlets later this month.


Queen's High School Indoor Soccer Invitational Results
April 16, 2007

The Quarry Sportsplex hosted an exciting weekend of high school soccer that saw repeat champions in the boys and girls divisions.

In the boys division, St. Aloysius Gonzaga SS (Mississauga) beat Cardinal Newman SS (Toronto) 4-0 to repeat as tourney champions. Gonzaga got to an early lead to secure their third tourney title in four years. Twenty teams started pool play with Cardinal Newman, St. Patricks HS (Ottawa), Bayridge SS (Kingston) and Hillcrest HS (Ottawa) finising first in their respective divisions. St. Aloysius Gonzaga beat Bayridge 2-0 in quarter final action, and Hillcrest 1-0 in in the semi finals on their way to the championship. Cardinal Newman beat Mary Ward SS (Toronto) 4-1 in the quarters and St. Patricks 2-1 in an exciting overtime semi final match.

The girls division saw Bayside SS (Belleville) repeated as girls champions with a 2-0 victory over St Pius X SS (Ottawa). Twenty teams started play with Bayside, T. A. Blakelock HS (Oakville), St. Aloysius Gonzaga SS (Mississauga) and St. Joseph SS (Cornwall) capturing their respective divisions. St. Pius, who came out of the same group as Bayside, reached the final with a 3-2 quarter final victory over St. Aloysius Gonzaga, and a 3-2 overtime victory over Sydenham HS in the semi finals. Bayside beat St. Peters (Peterborough) 2-1 in the quarter finals and T.A. Blakelock 2-1 in the semi finals on their way to their second title.


Queen's High School Indoor Soccer Invitational
April 12, 2007

The Quarry Sportsplex is hosting the 10th annual Queen's High School Indoor Invitational Soccer Tournament this weekend, April 14-15. This years tournament sees 40 boys and girls teams from eastern Ontario and the Toronto area taking part. Action begins Saturday morning at 8:00am and continues through the weekend.

The boys draw sees 20 teams challenging for the title St. Aloysius Gonzaga SS of Mississauga won last year. While on the girls side, 20 teams will be challenging for the title won by Bayside SS of Belleville.

Play starts Saturday at 8:00am and continues all day. Play resumes Sunday at 8:00am. Playoff action starts at 2:00pm with the quarter finals, followed by the semi finals at 4:00pm, and the finals slated for 5:15pm.


McConville Nominated For National Award
April 11, 2007

Queen's Golden Gaels fourth year striker Eilish McConville was the OUA nominee for the BLG Award. The BLG Award honours the top Canadian Interuniversity Sport male and female athletes for the 2006-07 season. McConville, Queen's female athlete of the year, led the nation in scoring with 22 goals as the Golden Gaels captured the silver medal at the CIS Championships. She was the winner of the Chantal Navert Award as the CIS Player of the Year, as well as a first team All Canadian and CIS Championship tournament All Star.

The BLG Award winners will be announced on Monday April 30th in Calgary, Alberta, with TSN broadcasting the award announcement Tuesday May 20th at 11 am. The male and female winners will each receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship. See CIS story for full details.


Colour Awards

The 71th annual Colour Awards were held this past weekend. Eilish McConville, a striker on the women's soccer team, was named the winner or the PHE '55 Award as the top female athlete.

Several other soccer Gaels were nominated for major awards. They included men's co-captain Chris Gencarelli who was nominated for the Jenkins Trophy (Top Male Athlete), and Wade Ennis for the Jim Tait Award (Team Sport - Men's).


McConville Honoured At Ottawa Sport Awards
February 12, 2007

Golden Gael striker Eilish McConville was honoured at the Ottawa Sports Awards Dinner earlier this month. The banquet was held Thursday February 1, and it honours the best Ottawa based athletes and teams of 2006 in a wide range of sporting endevours. McConville was the soccer player of the year. The fourth year engineering student, led the nation in scoring, was a CIS First Team All Star and the Tissot Player of the Year.


Queen's Indoor Soccer Invitational Results
February 5, 2007

The Quarry Sportsplex hosted an exciting day of indoor soccer on Saturday.

In men's action, the University of Guelph captured the men's championship with an exciting 2-1 overtime victory over Kingston Stages. Nine teams took part in pool play with Seneca College and University of Ottawa topping their respective divisions. Stages beat Queen's II 3-2 0 in the quarter finals and Ottawa 1-0 in semi final action. Guelph beat Carleton Alumni 3-1, and Seneca 1-0 in semi final action on their way to the championship.

On the women's side, the Carleton University I squad captured their second consecutive championship with a 5-1 victory over Queen's. Twelve teams took part in pool play with Carleton I, Queen's and Carleton II topping their divisions. Queen's advanced to the final with a 4-1 quarter final victory over Sir Sanford Fleming, and a 2-1 semi final victory over Queen's Alumni. Carleton's road to the championship saw them get past St Lawrence 3-0 in the quarter finals, and the Carleton II squad 3-0 in the semi finals.

The Quarry Sportsplex is hosting the Queen's Indoor Soccer Tournament this Saturday February 3, 2007. This years tournament sees 23 teams taking part, 9 in the men's and 12 in the women's division.

Women's action kicks off at 9:00am and runs for the whole day, with the men's draw starting at 10:00am. Men's quarterfinals begin at 5:15, followed by the semi finals at 7:15, and championship final at 8:30pm. Women's quarterfinal action starts at 6:00pm, followed by the semi finals at 8:00, and the championship game at 9:15pm.


UBC Captures Women's Soccer Championship
November 13, 2006

The University of British Columbia defeated the Queen's Golden Gaels 3-1 to capture the CIS Women's Soccer Championship. The Gaels struck first three minutes in when CIS Player of the Year Eilish McConville flicked a ball on to Renee MacLellan who got by a defender and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. Both teams attacked and created chances at goal with McConville hitting the cross bar on a free kick and during the run of play. UBC's Stephanie Thibert tied things up in the 28th minute. They went up for good just before the half when a shot off a corner was not held and tourney MVP Amy Bobb converted the rebound. In the second half UBC continued to press and increased their lead in the 66th minute when a Caitlin Davie strike found the back of the net. The Gaels' MacLellan and UBC's Davie were players of the game. The Gaels' MacLellan, McConville and midfielder Carrie Knoll were named to the All Tournament team.

In the bronze medal game, Ottawa scored two second half goals to defeat York 2-0.


Women Advance To CIS Final
November 12, 2006

The Queen's Golden Gaels beat York 1-0 to advance to the CIS championship game. Both teams had good scoring chances but the game was scoreless at the half. The Gaels broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second when Katie Dalziel got to a ball at the top of the box and fired a shot that was partially deflected by a defender and beat the goalkeeper at the far post. York hit the cross bar minutes later on a long free kick. The Gaels' Carrie Knoll and York's Jodie Williams were players of the game.

The Gaels will face the University of British Columbia who beat Ottawa 2-0 in the championship game. This is the Gaels first final since they won the title in 1988. York and Ottawa will play for the bronze medal.


McConville CIS Player of the Year
November 10, 2006

Queen's Golden Gaels star striker Eilish McConville was named Tissot Player of the Year. McConville, lead the nation in scoring with 22 goals in 16 games. She added 4 more in the playoffs as the Gaels qualified for the national tournament as OUA silver medalists. McConville was named to the First Team All Canadian team earlier in the evening. McConville is the second Golden Gael to receive the Chantal Navert Award, following Raeleen Dunne in 1999.


Women Defeat Cape Breton
November 10, 2006

The Golden Gaels advanced to the CIS semi final with a 2-1 victory over Cape Breton. The Atlantic champions got off to a quick start scoring in the second minute of play. The Gaels were unlucky not to tie things up at the half as they hit the goal post and cross bar three times. The Gaels tied the game in the 62nd minute when Eilish McConville got free out wide and her cross was headed in off the cross bar by Renee MacLellan. They took the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining when Katie Dalziel was able pounce on and finish a MacLellan shot that hit the post and was crossing the face of net. McConville, who had several good scoring opportunities denied by the Cape Breton goalkeeper, was selected the player of the game.

The Gaels will face York, the OUA bronze medalists, in one semi final. York defeated the Canada West champions from Trinity Western 1-0 in overtime. The other semi final sees OUA champion Ottawa taking on the University of British Columbia, the Canada West silver medalists.


CIS Women's Nationals

The women's soccer team head out to Victoria, BC to take part in the CIS Women's Soccer Championships hosted by the University of Victoria. The Golden Gaels, OUA finalists, take to field against Cape Breton who are the Atlantic Champions on Thursday November 9 at 12:00pm. For further detail see the CIS Women's Tournament site.


Women Lose OUA Final
November 5, 2006

Ottawa beat Queen's 1-0 to capture the OUA Women's Championship. The teams were tied 0-0 at the half. In the second half, Ottawa broke the tie in the 12th minute and held onto the victory.

In the OUA bronze medal game, York beat Western 1-0 to qualify for the CIS national tournament.


Men Lose OUA Bronze Game
November 5, 2006

Brock beat Queen's 1-0 to capture the bronze medal. The teams played a scoreless first half. The hometown Badgers scored midway through the second half to decide the game.

In the OUA Championship game, Western beat Toronto 2-1 in penalty kicks (5-4).


Women Advance To OUA Final
November 4, 2006

The Queen's Golden Gaels advanced to the OUA Women's Championship game with a 3-0 victory over Western. Playing at St. Lawrence College, the Gaels took a 2-0 halftime lead on two Eilish McConville goals. McConville, the OUA East Player of the Year, added her third of the game on a penalty in the second half. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.

The victory qualifies the Gaels for the CIS National Championships next week in Victoria, BC. The Gaels now face divisional rival Ottawa, who beat York 2-1, for the OUA Championship on Sunday at 2pm. The games move back to Richardson Stadium. The bronze medal game kicks off at 11:30am and sees York taking on Western with a birth at Nationals on the line.


Men Lose OUA Semi Final
November 4, 2006

Western beats Queen's 4-1 in OUA men's semi final action. The Gaels trailed 2-1 at the half as Western got goals in the 33rd and 36th minute to go up 2-0. The Gaels Rick Paudyn answered in the 41st minute to cut the lead in half. Western came out in the second and scored in the first minute, and added their fourth 10 minutes later to dash the Gaels hopes.

With the loss, the Gaels face Brock who lost in overtime to Toronto 3-1 in the bronze medal game Sunday at 11am. The OUA Championship game between Toronto and Western goes at 1pm.


OUA Women's Soccer All Stars
November 4, 2006

The Golden Gaels had four players named to the OUA Women's East All Star teams. Striker Eilish McConville was a first team selection and the OUA East Player of the Year. Joining McConville on the first team were strike partner Renee MacLellan, and defender and co-captain Janine Clarke. Co-captain Andrea Pigozzo was named a defender on the second all star team.


OUA Men's Soccer All Stars

Five Golden Gaels were named to the OUA Men's East All Star teams. Midfielder Nick Milonas was selected to the OUA East First Team. Selected to the second team were defender Wade Ennis, midfielder Steven Irish and striker Chris Gencarelli. Coach Al MacVicar was the OUA East Coach of the Year.


Queen's Hosts OUA Women's Final Four
November 1, 2006

The Queen's Golden Gaels are hosting the OUA Women's Final Four on November 4-5. Due to the soggy field conditions of Richardson Stadium after last weekends two quarter final games, the first day (Saturday Nov. 4) of the championships will be played at St. Lawrence College. The first game features the host Gaels up against Western at 12:00pm. The second game of the day sees York taking on Ottawa at 2:00pm. Sunday's games will be back at Richardson Stadium, with the bronze medal game at 11:30am and the gold medal game at 2:00pm.

The OUA Men's Final Four is set for Brock University on November 4-5. Action kicks off Saturday with the hosts from Brock taking on Toronto at 11:00am. Women To Host OUA Final Four
October 29, 2006

The women beat Toronto 2-0 and will host the OUA Final Four. The game was played on a rain soaked, muddy field that made conditions difficult. The Gaels lead 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Carrie Knoll. They had many good scoring opportunities in the second and got the insurance marker when Eilish McConville scored late in the game. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.

The host Gaels will face Western in one semi final matchup, while York and Ottawa will be matched up in the other semi final. Game times yet to be determined.


Men Advance To OUA Final Four
October 29, 2006

The men advance to the OUA Men's Final Four with a convincing 4-1 victory over Trent. On a rainy, wet day the Gaels took a 2-0 halftime lead on two quick goals by Steve Irish and Matt Hulse midway through the half. In the second, Alex Makin and Rick Paudyn increased the Gaels lead before Trent got a consolation goal late in the game.

The Gaels now travel to St. Catharines for the OUA Final Four hosted by Brock University. They will face Western in one semi final matchup, while the host team from Brock will tangle with Toronto. Game times yet to be determined.


Golden Gaels OUA Quarterfinal Matchups Set

The Golden Gaels OUA quarterfinal matches have been set and will be played on Saturday October 28. The men will be playing at 12:00pm against Trent who upset Laurentian 2-0. The women's game kicks off at 2:00pm; they will be playing Toronto who beat Laurentian 1-0.


McConville Named CIS - VIA Rail Athletes Of The Week

The Gaels Eilish McConville was named the CIS - VIA Rail Female Athlete Of The Week. McConville scored seven goals in the Gaels final three regular season games giving her a CIS leading 22 goals. The three victories helped the Gaels clinch first place in the OUA East division. See CIS story.


Women Clinch OUA East
October 22, 2006

The women clinched top spot in the OUA East with a pair of victories over RMC. On Saturday the Gaels beat RMC 4-0. Eilish McConville netted two first half goals and Renee MacLellan added one; RMC's best chance came on a dubious penalty late in the half that sailed over the cross bar. McConville tailed in the 89 minute to record a hat trick. Katie McKenna and Megan Martins shared the shutout.

On Sunday, McConville and MacLellan were once again on the score sheet as the Gaels beat their cross town rivals from RMC 3-1. McConville netted two more goals to take her OUA/CIS leading tally to 22, and MacLellan got one. RMC got one back late as the Gaels led by a 3-1 margin at halftime. Both teams were unable to get on the board in the second half.

The women finished tops in the OUA East with a 12-1-3 record good for 39 points. This guarantees a first round bye and a home playoff game next weekend.


Men Finish First In OUA East
October 22, 2006

A pair of victories over RMC gives the men first place in the OUA East. On Saturday, the men beat RMC 2-0 on goals by David Kerr-Vayne and Rick Paudyn. Tyler Lewis recorded the shoutout.

Sunday saw the Gaels beat RMC 4-0. The Gaels got out to a 3-0 halftime lead on goals by Wade Ennis, Kelly McNicol and Alex Makin. An RMC own goal late in the game rounded out the scoring in game, which saw Tyler Lewis record consecutive shutouts.

The Gaels finished tied with Carleton atop the OUA East division with 31 points (10-3-1 record) and finished top of the table because of a better head-to-head record against the next highest ranked team, Toronto. They receive a first round bye and will be hosting a home playoff game next weekend.


Women Beat Ryerson
October 20, 2006

The women beat Ryerson 3-1 in Toronto. The Gaels got off to a good start, but it was Ryerson that got on the scoreboard first. Eilish McConville tied things up, and the teams were even at the half. McConville gave the Gaels the lead in the first minute of the second half, and setup Carrie Knoll's first of the season fifteen minutes later.

October 20, 2006

The men traveled to Toronto and beat Ryerson 4-1. The Gaels took a 1-0 lead at the half on a goal by Alex Makin. Ryerson tied the game early in the second half. David Kerr-Vayne put the Gaels up, and they added to late goals by Nick Milonas and Kelly McNicol.

The men's and women's games against Ryerson have been rescheduled for Thursday October 19. The games will be played at the Ontario Soccer Centre, with the men kicking off at 2:00pm followed by the women's game at 4:00pm.

Women Tie Toronto
October 15, 2006

The women tied Toronto 0-0. The Gaels had a better first half but were unable to capitalise on several goal scoring opportunities, hitting the crossbar once. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.


Men Beat Toronto
October 15, 2006

The men beat Toronto 1-0 in a key Eastern division match up. David Kerr-Vayne broke the deadlock midway through the second half, and Tyler Lewis earned the shutout.


Women Win and Tie
October 10, 2006

The women's team came home from Ottawa with a win and a tie over Thanksgivings. On Saturday, the Gaels got off to a quick start against Carleton. Katie Dalziel scored off a corner in the first minute of play. Caitlin Lambert increased the lead, and the Gaels led 2-0 at the half. The game finished 2-0 with Katie McKenna recording the shutout.

On Sunday, the Gaels matched up against Ottawa. The Gaels got on the board first when Eilish McConville slotted the ball past the Ottawa keeper in the 29th minute. Leading 1-0 at the half, the Gaels continued to hold onto the lead until Ottawa salvaged a tie with a goal in the last minute of regular time.


Men Lose To Carleton

The men dropped a 1-0 decision to Carleton over the weekend. Carleton took the early lead scoring three minutes into the match. The early goal proved to be the difference in the contest.
Women Continue To Win
October 2, 2006

The women's team continued their winning ways this weekend. On Saturday they got two goals in each half to beat Toronto 4-0. Katie Dalziel and Maia Lawson tallied the in the first half. In the second half, Dalziel scored here second of the game and Eilish McConville rounded out the scoring. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.

On Sunday, playing on a sloppy pitch from the previous nights rain, the Gaels got by Ryerson 2-1. Renee MacLellan and Caitlin Lambert converted McConville assists to put the Gaels up 2-0 at the half. The Gaels were unable to add to their lead, and Ryerson got one back ten minutes from the end.


Men Win Pair
October 2, 2006

The men came away with two key victories on the weekend. On Saturday, the Gaels handed the University of Toronto their first loss of the season. The Gaels got out to a 2-0 start on goals by Chris Gencarelli and Rick Paudyn. Toronto responded with one before the end of the half. Playing against a strong wind in the second, the Gaels held on to the 2-1 victory against some sustained Toronto pressure including a post and crossbar late in the game.

On Sunday, the Gaels started out slowly and needed a late goal by Kento Ozaki off a rebound to get by Ryerson 1-0. Tyler Lewis recorded the shutout.

September 26, 2006

Eilish McConville was selected the Pioneer Petroleums OUA Female Athlete Of The Week for the second time this season. McConville, a fourth year striker, scored seven goals in the Gaels' last three games. She scored in each contest, leading the Gaels to two wins and one loss, good for second place in the OUA East division.


Women Win Two
September 25, 2006

The women took six points from the weekend. On Saturday, the Gaels beat Laurentian 4-1. The Gaels led 2-0 at half time on a pair of Kaley Robinson goals. Eilish McConville netted two in the seconf half before Laurentian got on the score board.

On Sunday, the Gaels defeated Nipissing 6-2. The Gaels led 1-0 at the half on Eilish McConville's first of the game. Nipissing came out and took a 2-1 led early in the second on two quick goals. The Gaels responded a minute later when McConville's free kick from 20 meters found the back of the net. McConville then setup Renee MacLellan for the game winner, before rounding out the scoring herself on some fine individual efforts and an own goal off a Nipissing defender on a driven cross from the end line.


Men Split Weekend Results
September 25, 2006

In a rematch of last weekend, the men split there games with Laurentain and Nipissing. On Saturday, the Gaels lost a heartbreaker to Laurentain. The Gaels jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Steve Irish and Alex Makin, and led 2-1 at the half. Laurentain equalised in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and got the game winner in the 71st minute on a 45 meter free kick that sailed over the Queen's keeper's head and into the net.

The Gaels rebounded the next day by beating Nipissing 3-2. Nipissing got out to a 1-0 lead before Chris Gencarelli and Alex Makin put the Gaels up 2-1 at half time. Nipissing equalised late in the game. Five minutes later the Gaels got the game winner when Matt Hulse got on the end of a cross and found the back of the net.


Women Lose To Ottawa

The Ottawa Gee Gees defeated the Gaels 2-1. Ottawa led 1-0 at the half and increased their lead early in the second half. The Gaels got on the scoreboard when Eilish McConville converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute. The loss drops the Gaels to second in the OUA East.


Women Win and Tie

The women's northern road trip resulted in a win and tie. The Gaels beat Nipissing 4-0 on Saturday. Eilish McConville scored early in each half, and Aleisha Marchant and Caitlin Lambert added two late goals. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.

On Sunday, the Gaels were unable to score and came away with a 0-0 draw at Laurentian. McKenna was in goal for the shutout.


Men Split Up North
September 18, 2006

The men split their weekend games during their northern road trip. On Saturday, the Gaels beat Nipissing 3-1. The teams were tied 1-1 at halftime. Mike Zanetti scored the Gaels first, Chris Gencarelli scored early in the second half, and Matt Hulse added a late insurance goal. On Sunday, the Gaels came out flat and lost 1-0 to Laurentian.


McConville OUA Athlete Of The Week

Eilish McConville was selected the Pioneer Petroleums OUA Female Athlete Of The Week. McConville, a fourth year striker, led the Gaels to two victories including scoring four goals in a 5-3 win over Trent.


Women Win Two
September 11, 2006

The women's soccer team opened their home schedule with victories. On Friday evening the Gaels beat Trent 5-3. Fourth year striker Eilish McConville scored four goals in the victory, and Renee MacLellan added one.

On Sunday, the Gaels got by Carleton 2-0. Kaley Robinson scored in the first half, and Laura Barker added one in the second half. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.


Men Tie and Win
September 11, 2006

The Gaels came away with a tie and a win in their home openers this weekend. On Friday the men tied against Trent 0-0. Tyler Lewis recorded the shutout.

On Sunday, Gaels came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Carleton. The Gaels led 1-0 at the half on a Wade Ennis goal. The teams were tied late in the game when Chris Gencarelli stepped up and finished a penalty kick with two minutes remaining to give the Gaels the victory.

The women's soccer team came away with a 3-0 victory over Trent. The Gaels got goals from Brynn Gradley, Renee MacLellan, and Laura Johnstone on a Trent own goal. Katie McKenna recorded the shutout.


Men Open Regular Season With A Victory

The men's soccer team opened the regular season with a 1-0 victory over Trent. Playing on a rainy day in Peterborough, the Gaels Chris Gencarelli scored the game winner the 75th minute. Tyler Lewis recorded the shutout.


Men's Preseason Wrap Up
August 30, 2006

The men split their games at the Old Four in Toronto. On Saturday, the Gaels tied McGill 1-1 before advancing to the gold medal game with a 5-3 penalty shootout victory. Kento Ozaki scored for the Gaels. In the penalty shootout, Pablo McDonald, Ash Walker, Scott Compeau and Tyler Swan found the net, and goalkeeper Sean Martin made two outstanding saves to seal the victory. On Sunday, the Gaels dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of Western Ontario.

On August 29, the men traveled to the Univerisite of Montreal where they dropped a 1-0 decision to one of the top teams in the country.


Women Lose In Penalties At Old Four
August 28, 2006

The women's soccer team lost their two games at the Old Four by virtue of penalty shootouts. On Saturday, the women played McGill to a 1-1 draw before losing 5-4 on penalty kicks. Eilish McConville scored for the Gaels. McConville, Andrea Pigozzo, Caitlin Lambert and Ali Skinner converted penalties.

On Sunday, Queen's and Toronto played to a 1-1 tie before once again losing 5-4 on penalties. Maia Lawson scored the Gaels lone goal. Eilish McConville, Janine Clarke, Laura Johnstone and Ali Skinner scored in the shoot out.


Danone Nations Cup - McDonald's Soccer Camp

Queen's Golden Gaels Soccer will again be hosting the Danone Nations Cup - McDonald's Soccer camp. The Eastern Ontario Area Camp will be held the morning of Sunday October 1, 2006.

The Danone Nations Cup is the major International Cup for Kids aged 10 to 12 (born in 1995, 1996, 1997). It gives over 2 million children the opportunity to take part in an international tournament and to develop their passion for soccer and skills in the the game. In Canada, the McDonald's Soccer Camps are the first level of participation in the Danone Cup.

There is no cost to participate, and every participant receives a t-shirt and products from Danone and McDonald's. The camps will feature games, learning, music, fun, and other surprises. To register for the camp go to Canadian Donone Nations Cup site at www.coupedanonecup.com.
